This has been by far the best $120 I have spent. I have been looking for a bookshelf/media storage shelf for at least 6 months, looking at dozens of online retailers such as eBay, Staples, and Amazon. I have finally caved in on this particular shelf, and it's been the best thing I have purchased online!
First, the package was a little heavy and was kinda hard to put it upstairs by myself(I'm 17 years old btw :D). I was really excited though haha. :D The setup was extremely easy. Did it by myself - only took an hour! I'll tell you step by step what I did to set it up so you can get an idea.
The first step in the procedure would be to carefully take out ALL boards from the package and separate each board. Next step would be to find the middle board(all boards have a letter on them to easily identify which board is which). Then, you screw in 4 boards into the middle shelf on each side. Wasn't too hard, but took time to screw. Just remember that you aren't screwing the boards on BACKWARDS. After, would be the top end and the bottom end of the bookshelf. And guess what? You're close to finish! Rest of the steps is EASY.
The longest part would be hammering the nails for the backboard. The backboard isn't too thin, and isn't too heavy either. :) Just be sure to hammer ALL the nails so when you put some of your DVD's/games/CDs on the shelf, it doesn't push the nail back(as one review said). Oh, and remember to make sure to use a flat surface with the bottom end of the shelf sticking out. That way, it doesn't snap in half as another reviewer said. I used my bed which worked perfectly. :) The nails weren't too hard to hammer, so just be careful and diligent.

This DVD shelf was a good idea at the time. It looked like it was sturdy and would hold all my DVDs. Well it does hold all my DVDs but the product is not as sturdy as I would have liked. I had a hard time keeping it from wobbling while putting it together as the screws easily came out of their particle board. After assembled it became more secure, however, the whole thing is slightly top heavy. I was worried that I would come home one day and find it and all my DVDs spilled over on the ground. I think this is something they know about and compensate for as it has some kind of weird wall bracket thing that comes with it. I ended up driving one of the tacks through the back of the shelf into the wall to keep it upright without shaking when I removed movies. Overall it looks great and I couldn't find a case that held more movies. If you have a wider assortment of tools then you can probably make it more durable.

Although I like attractive, well-made furniture, I don't like paying the high price they demand.
This DVD shelf works but is what you'd expect from mass-produced pressboard shipped in a flat-pack.
As others have noted, this comes in quite a few pieces. The finish is some sort of plastic coating over pressboard (essentially sawdust and glue formed into boards).
I noticed that a few of the shelf pieces had missing finish on one side and one was an inch too short. Thankfully, you won't need all of the shelves unless you're planning on storing CDs.
Assembly was complicated by a few things: The locking mechanisms that held the top and bottom halves were difficult to get locked properly and they failed completely when the unit was placed on its face in order to attach the back. I ended up using wood glue on the alignment dowels and clamping it together overnight.
Since the back gives the unit all of its lateral strength and more or less locks the entire unit to whatever alignment it has at the moment of installation, I had my wife hold it in a vertical position and hold a carpenters level while I got the first few brads installed.
Once it was assembled, it was pretty simple to install the shelves and load the DVDs into it. Since the unit isn't especially strong, I *highly* recommend not trying to move it once it's loaded.
I also highly recommend using the included retaining clips that will attach it to the wall. It may save you from tipping mishaps in the future.
I'd probably pick a more substantially made unit if given a do-over, but this shelf does work.
