This bike rack is very easy to install if you have the right tools. You must have a long socket wrench to tighten the bolt to the hitch. Once it's on, the bike rack is secure, easy to load and unload, and easy to uninstall. The best part about this bike rack is that it tilts back softly when you'd like to access your trunk, even with four bikes on the rack! The degree of tilt allows plenty of clearance for the trunk door ( we drive a van). The part that supports the bikes can be easily removed if you want to drive around town without your bikes. What impressed me the most is that the bike rack is very solid and sturdy. We made our trip 400 miles down to San Diego and back without having any problems with the bikes swinging or bouncing on the rack. Definitely a good investment. It's a much better value than the Yakima or the Thule racks!!

I really wanted a bike rack that I could put 4 bikes on, yet still "easily" get at the contents of the back of our van (full-sized Ford econoline with two swing-out doors in the back). This was the only rack that fit the bill. I bought the compatible hitch extender for this rack, which gives an extra 4" of clearance. I actually needed about an extra 1/2" from the standard, so I was glad that I did, but for a majority of vehicles the regular setup will suffice.
This rack did pretty much everything as advertised, but there were some annoyances:
1. There doesn't seem to be a way to fix the bike-holding cradles and spacers in place, and there's about 1/2" of play, so they can slide back and forth on the rack. I wedged some pieces of styrofoam at the end of the two bars to hold everything securely.
2. Definitely designed for adult male bikes with a crossbar. My wife's bike doesn't have a crossbar (though, apparently they sell an adapter), my daughter's 20" boy's bike didn't bike have enough space in the triangle to fit over the bike-holding cradles - which are pretty large. My other daughter's 16" bike was not even close to fitting. I did manage to get all 4 bikes on; two had to go upside-down (my wife's and younger daughter's) and I fit the 20" by flipping the anti-sway cradle around (luckily they are easy to remove) and shifting the bike over so that main post (that the saddle is on top of) was between the two bike-holding cradles - then I could jam the anti-sway cradle back in backwards to secure the bike. The whole setup was tight and looked bizarre, but it worked and the bikes were held securely - but depending on the bike, you may not be able to attach it securely.
3. There is necessarily a little play in the hole for the release pin that you need to pull to lower the bikes. Loaded down with the weight of 4 bikes (not all adult), the pin was very hard to pull out. To make it easier I would first push the rack toward the car, then work the pin loose, then hold it out while I pushed the rack out with my other hand. Once the rack cleared the hole I could let go of the pin and push it the rest of the way down.
The rack definitely was nice and secure and did not wiggle. If you pushed on it, the whole care would move. Once I got all the bikes on and secured, I was able to raise and lower the rack by myself as advertised - the gas-assist worked very well, though wiggling the release pin out was difficult and my wife could not do it.

I received this rack and used it right after I got it. It was very easy to assemble and it is the best bike rack I have ever seen or used. Very sturdy, great setup and I can open my tailgate with the bikes on.
