This is an OEM Sony battery, and fit my Vaio VGN-FW series laptop with no issues. As other reviewers have described, it raises the rear of the laptop slightly, say half an inch or so. I find this to be a positive; it promotes better air circulation to the cooling vents, and is not a problem on any surface I have put the computer on. It gives about four hours of power, almost twice what I was getting out of the standard battery. It's just a shame it costs so much, but the amazon price was in line with other OEM Sony vendors. Overall, I'm happy with it and if your standard battery is giving out, or if you want more capacity, I'd recommend going with the extended battery. Four stars- one star off for the relatively high price, but after reading some reviews of non-oem batteries I wasn't going to take my chances with an off-brand unit that might not have fit, had the battery life or longevity of the Sony unit.

The Positive:
-Brings my battery life up to about 8-9 hours on my Sony Vaio VPC-YB15KX/S
-Angles the keyboard for a little more comfort
-Gives space for airflow to keep the laptop cool
-Rubber feet on the battery, laptop doesn't slide around like with the default battery!

The Negative:
-Sony's high price (if you want to use third party you have to modify the bios)
-Sticks out quite a bit, may have problems with some laptop sleeves
-Takes a long time to charge
-Adds an extra pound or so to the weight
-Probably not going to be comfortable if you're using it on your lap, I have a custom made masonite lapboard so that's not a problem for me.

My suggestion would be to keep the regular battery that comes with the laptop when you need to travel light and keep the extended battery on hand for when you're playing games, going to be away from an outlet for a long time, or for use at a desk (for the angle on the keyboard).
